Alekhine Chess Library (Part I of II): A Collection of 669 Chess Books The following collection of 669 books about chess history and philosophy is organized alphabetically. (Bisguier, Janowski, Lasker, Marshall, etc.) Those for which books in the original languages are lacking are in English, while others are in German. Some are in French or Italian. Two books (not the two included in Part I) were not found: Chess Machinations and The Dynamics of Chess. Bibliographical note: The numbers (a-i) are added by me after I've consulted the original bibliography. Thanks to Rolf Krueger and Robert Fischer for their help. For a larger number of books the list is now at One more book has been added (not listed above): Lasker's Best Games of the World.
